Dr Marliese Symons’ first degree was in Human Biology(Hons) from Kings College University of London (KCL), concurrently taking a three year course in philosophy and winning the 2nd Leathes Prize in the Faculty of Life Sciences, to be awarded the Associateship of King’s College, (AKC).

Understanding that Western medicine (allopathic), despite all its incredible advances, was often at a loss to cure acute and chronic disease or manage conditions without causing unwanted (side) effects, or health problems further down the line, led her to read ‘The Science of Homeopathy’ by George Vithoulkas – a world renowned Professor in Homeopathic Medicine. It became clear homeopathy is based on Natural Laws; is evidence-based (more than 200 years of evidence); treats the whole person – mind, body, spirit – not simply the symptoms; is used worldwide; is used by hundreds of millions of people, as well as babies, animals and even plants.

After graduating from Kings College, she was fortunate to win a scholarship from the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) to undertake a three-year, full time course at the College of Homeopathy, London, where she qualified in 1994 (MCH). Two years of post-graduate studies followed, at the Dynamis School of Advanced Homeopathic Studies (PCH) (Practitioner of Classical Homeopathy). She then took a Master’s degree in Chiropractic (MChiro with Merit) from AECC University College, now HSU (Health Sciences University), becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) after further post-graduate studies, including specialisms in paediatrics.

She is the first (and currently only) Chiropractor to gain full membership (MFHom) of the Faculty of Homeopathy, and is an Examiner for the Faculty. The Faculty of Homeopathy has a 175 year history and our Patron is HRH King Charles III.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) has been a regular part of her professional life for the past three decades, notably in India and Europe. Her particular areas of interest include: Wellness, Nutrition, Paediatrics, Pregnancy and Birth, Ergonomics, Sport and Yoga. She write articles and has edited books relating to health. When time permits, she spends time in India joining colleagues in delivering healthcare to charitable clinics.

In 1996 she completed the ultra-marathon, Marathon des Sables, a 250km self-sufficient foot race across the Sahara Desert. She was one of only three English women who were the first to take part in, and complete, what is dubbed ‘the toughest foot race on Earth'.

Drawing on a wealth of experience and knowledge built up over the past thirty years, she works with patients to bring about long-lasting health (physically, mentally and emotionally) whatever their starting point, health status or health goals, and to do so naturally, without harmful side-effects.

She uses an integrated, functional medicine approach to delivering healthcare and encourages patients to maintain a good relationship with their GP and health professionals. Many of her patients have tried allopathic medicine and either that has not provided improvement, or they do not wish to take the recommended medication/surgery. Homeopathic medicine is completely safe to take during pregnancy, labour and birth, as well as for new-borns. Where appropriate, she is able to refer for imaging (X-rays, MRI’s ultrasound), and laboratory tests, to rule out pathology.
